Designed for the Pelican cases that Bartz Technology Corporation uses with its ICAP(tm) system, the GEXAR(tm) Backpack Transport System allows the Minirhizotron camera components to be carried to remote research locations as a self-contained unit. (Please call for prices). For video recording, we still provide alternate backpack solutions (Please call for prices).A special Bogen Magic Arm is mounted on the backpack frame to hold a camcorder with CD flip-out color monitor in place for viewing. This leaves hands free to operate the BTC camera head and indexing handle. The camcorder has a 2-hour video recording capability with 420 lines resolution in color on high density 8 mm tapes. The back of the frame is modified with metal carrying platforms for the camera controller, power supply, and other field equipment Power video input, and remote control of all functions of the BTC camera is provided on a remote hand-held unit through a single cable connection. A special harness can also be built to hold the BTC I-CAP image capture system's computer in front of the operator. With all components mounted except the power supply the Backpack Transport System weighs about 14 pounds. The camera head, handle, and UV option add another 10 pounds. The generator is not normally carried except when hiking to remote plots over rough terrain. During operation it is placed on the ground, and power is carried to the backpack through a 100 foot cord |
